Trasimeno Lake

Enclosed between the green hills of Umbria, Lake Trasimeno is the fourth biggest lake of Italy. One of the things to do in Trasimeno Lake is a tour of the islands by ferry. Leave your car in San Feliciano and catch the early morning ferry to Isola Polvese; from Passignano or Tuoro you can catch the ferry to Isola Maggiore, with restaurants and a lovely hike. After visiting the islands, we suggest you to make the circumnavigation of Lake Trasimeno.

On its banks, poetically described as “a veil of water on a meadow”, you can find breathtakingly beautiful villages like Castiglione del Lago (a charming town for a picnic or wandering on a nice day, there is a castle open to the public) and Passignano, has remained virtually intact through the centuries. The shores of Lake Trasimeno are for the most part dense with reeds that are the home to a wide range of bird-life. A drive around the lake makes an excellent one-day excursion.
